I think a very real difference between Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris is being overlooked.
George H.W. Bush: 1989-1993
Bill Clinton: 1993-2001
George W. Bush: 2001-2009
My daughter and son were born in 1988 and 1990. They had come of voting age and had never known anyone other than a Bush or a Clinton as POTUS. It had been 20 years! And in 2009 we were being asked to return another Clinton to office.
It was no surprise to me that Barack Obama garnered more enthusiasm.
I think that Americans are skeptical of dynasties. Apart from that is the reluctance of some elderly politicians to let go of power.
Biden stepping down so Harris can step up is huge. Harris offers the promise of fresh and energetic leadership (something neither Biden nor Trump could do).
And she lays no claims to dynastic rights.
